Syndication
I personaly think syndication is awsome, and I check my reader every day. This is why I have decided to have a page on my site dedicated on decribing the glories of syndication.
What is RSS? RSS is a three letter abreviation that stands for Really Simple Syndication, Rich Site Summary or RDF Site Summary. It is a XML-based system that allows users to subscribe to data feeds.
Syndicated information is also used in web development. Syndicated information is information that is "shared". You can syndicate your website on other websites and use a news aggregator to post syndicated information from other websites on to your website.
Discussion forums are an example of how to benefit from syndicated information. A forum is like a journal on a specific topic. Allowing people to comment on such topic and even comment on other comments. If you comment or ask a question on a forum you can subscribe to the forum. When someone replies to your question or when the forum is updated the comments are sent to your reader. Google, MSN, Yahoo, all major networks, and many other companies are implementing news readers into their systems.
Wikipedia explains it well, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Web_syndication.
